Great Time To Bring The Little Ones Just Learning How To Skate!!
I’ve sat down to write this more times than I can count, never quite knowing where to begin. When you watch a deeply personal dream come full circle, it brings with it a flood of emotions that are difficult to put into words.
Jacob Carroll has been a family friend of ours for years. When we first opened, he was here every step of the way helping. Throughout it all, cerebral palsy has never slowed him down, not even a little. He loves The Skatin’ Rink, and we are beyond grateful to have him as part of our rink family.
When we got up and running we talked endlessly about one question: How do we get Jacob out on the skating floor with us? We didn’t want something he could simply sit in, because that isn’t the same as standing upright, cruising around the floor beneath the glow of the disco ball. We knew this idea would require the right people, and we believed that if anyone could help bring it to life, it would be the engineering team at Auburn University.
Then, through a combination of pure chance and perfect timing, I connected with someone in Auburn’s engineering department who needed assistance obtaining medical records. That conversation opened the door for us to share our idea, and what followed was nothing short of incredible.
A talented and compassionate senior design team spent months pouring their creativity, knowledge, and heart into turning this vision into reality. When you look at this picture, you don’t just see a group of graduating students. You see people who genuinely cared. We brought the dream, and they brought the expertise to make it possible.
With RFM generously donating materials (thank you!), Jacob’s dad, Heath, lending his welding skills, and the students bringing every piece together, the final result exceeded anything we could have imagined. Auburn University is even working to make this invention available to other rinks by sharing blueprints, resources, and connections to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation so that more communities can benefit from what was created here.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to (left to right) Jack Komlos, Sarah Mai Broaddus, Drew Hood, (Jacob) Yu Wang, Elizabeth Foster, and Abdalla Al Ali. You didn’t just complete a senior project. You changed a life.
This would not have been possible without every single one of you. We are grateful not only for your talent and dedication, but also for the kindness, compassion, and love you poured into this work.
We wish you nothing but success in your future careers. While this project will always hold a special place in your hearts, please know it will forever hold one in ours as well.
With sincere gratitude and so much love,
Jason and Carmen Turnham

We are Eastern Time zone here. One of only 4 cities on the Eastern side of Alabama that do! Can you name the other 3 cities?
Anything you normally wear EXCEPT for pajama and clubbing attire! Pajamas will be denied entry and revealing clothing will be too. I mean come on, it's a family establishment!
Unfortunately no. The only ones allowed to bring any kind of food in are those that schedule a birthday party with us. Limited to cake and ice cream only. If you don't have a party scheduled with us, you also can't bring any presents in. Cakes, ice cream and presents inside are benefits for scheduled party participants only.
If they are 9 years old and older, yes. And no, big sister that is a minor herself can not watch the 5 year old. 8 and under MUST have ADULT guardians with them at all times...inside...watching them...not in the car in the parking lot.
Yes. The only exception is for little ones 4 and under if they are not skating. All children are charged and we also have a house rule that they must keep their skates on at all times. Helps keep the trouble from happening. Do you have any idea how hard it is to even try to fight with skates on? LOL!
We love our customers, so feel free to visit our roller skating rink during normal business hours!
